2024 NIU Invitational update (7/19/23)
We are proud to announce that the NIU Invitational is now partnered up with the Legendary Joe Giallombardo Invitational . Two Invitationals originally run inside of gymnastics gyms are merging and moving “out of house” into the DuPage Fairgrounds to accommodate a larger audience and a traditional structure, bringing more amazing gymnastics at all possible levels under one roof. The synergy of the two meets brings a variety of gyms together from far and wide on Saturday, March 9th.
Levels 8-10 will still be competing directly against collegiate teams in a 5 up 4 count structure. Although the scoring will be GymACT rules, there will be a few rules in place to make sure that junior gymnasts will not have to change their routines to compete in a college meet. For example, a level 8 gymnast will not be expected to have to use pommels. Rules will allow junior gymnasts to count junior (A) skills for value and have a minimum of 6 skills in their routine without deduction.
The entry fee for Junior Teams will be $800. Gyms are encouraged to put up as many teams as they want if they provide the coaching staff that can accommodate multiple teams.
The name of the hotel block is NIU Invitational, and is at the Crowne Plaza Lombard. The price $109 a night on Saturday March 11th. (5 miles from the venue at the DuPage Fairgrounds) link below: Click here to find out more information!
If you arrive early and want a fun spot for your team athletes to hang out there is a place called Enchanted Castle close to the hotel that has Escape Rooms, Lazer Tag, Bumper Bowling, Mini Golf, and video games. Click here to find out more information!
There will be 5 college teams competing (Minnesota, Iowa, New York Alliance, and NIU's Varsity team and NIU's Junior Varsity team) alongside junior club teams as well. It will be one set of equipment and TRADITIONAL FORMAT.
Note: All of this will be sent out in an email! Please fill out the form at the bottom of the page if you would like added to the list!
